Dress Appropriately- Forget about being sexy. Weddings are not the right occasion to dress that way. Don’t wear dresses that are too revealing or too sexy. Unless you want to upstage the bride then forget about showing some cleavage or your belly. Remember, this day is about the bride and it is impolite at the least to upstage her.
Coordination- Forget about coordinating with the other guests in the wedding or with the bridesmaid. Usually, unless you are one of the bridesmaids you won’t know what they are wearing and you don’t want to look like one of the bridesmaids if you’re not. Use your own style and coordinate with no one other than your guest/spouse/friend with whom you are going to the wedding with.
Festive- If the invitation says that you should wear something festive then you should go for a cool cocktail dress that is light and perfect to dance in. You don’t want to be left behind when the festivities start do you?
